Seema Deo, previously known as Nalini Saraf was born is a character actress who
has worked in around 80 films – Hindi and Marathi. Her big break was to get a call
from Bimal Roy productions, she was shooting for a film when the call came but went
to meet Bimalda, as it was once in a lifetime opportunity. On reaching his office,
Bimalda offered her a role in his upcoming film ‘Prem Patra’, when he came to know
that Seema was Raja Paranjpe’s disciple, he immediately signed her and gave her
an advance of Rs. 500.

This was a landmark moment of her life and she went on to act in movies such as
Koshish, Yeh Yeh Zindagi, Benam Badshah, Kora Kagaz, Dus Lakh, Mard, Naseeb
Apna Apna, Gurudev, Anubhav and she is best remembered for her role in
Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand where her gentle approach to the character made it
so realistic. Seema is married to the actor Ramesh Deo who also played the role of
her husband in Anand. The film was a huge success and Seema’s role received
much appreciation.

Seema received the National award for best Marathi feature film. She has two sons-
Ajinkya (actor) and Abhinay (director).
