To be the son of an icon is in itself a challenge, particularly if you are planning to join your celebrity father’s profession. Ram Charan Teja seems to have managed the challenge quite well, moving out of the shadow of his father, Chiranjeevi and creating a brand for himself.

Born March 27, 1985, Ram Charan is not just an actor. He is also a producer and a businessman beyond cinema. He has interests in TruJet Airlines and India’s leading obstacle race brand Devils Circuit.

Ram Charan also had another tough point to prove. True, coming from a film family background, he naturally got the initial support, but had to justify the support what with a whole set of cousins within his age bracket also in to acting and emerge as the leader of the pack. Winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South for Chirutha, his first film in a lead role, he went on to create a record with his performance in Magadheera, which remains as one of the most successful box office Telugu films. His performance won him the  Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.

Ram Charan is certainly one of the most successful actors in Telegu cinema in recent times and he will be watched in the years ahead.

He is married to Upasana Kamineni, editor of B Positive and the grand daughter of Prathap C Reddy, founder of Apollo Hospitals.
