Born Kalyan Kumar Ganguly, Anoop Kumar was one of the three legendary Ganguly brothers
who dominated the film industry. He may not have been as famous as his illustrious brothers
Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar, but starred in over 70 films, the most famous being Chalti ka
Naam Gaadi.

Born on March 24th, 1926, Anoop Kumar was spoken of as the most talented of the three
brothers but didn’t really make a dent in the industry. He made his debut in Khiladi in 1950 and
starred in many hit films like Dekh Kabira Roya, Kashmir Ki Kali, Prem Pujari, Amar Prem and
Victoria No 203.He had also acted in a Bengali film Lukochuri as Anup Ganguly.

His sister, Sati Devi was married to Sasadhar Mukherjee founder of Filmstan and Joy Mukherjee
and Deb Mukherjee were his nephews.

He was also a talented painter.

He died in 1997.
