Zohra Sehgal 296 Views
Zohra Sehgal is an inspiration for many as she was one of the gusty and spirit personalities of Bollywood. She loved dancing which made her join Uday Shankar’s dance troupe and performed in various places. She became a teacher in Almore later in life and married dancer Kameshwar Singh. She worked at the Prithvi Theatre for 14 long years and was even an Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) member.
Years ago, when international appearances were not a thing, Zohra got the opportunity to get featured in Rudyard Kiplong’s The Rescue of Pluffles and even anchored some episodes of Padosi (a television serial).
Zohra was an indomitable spirit who fought against the prejudice that still prevails in Bollywood, regarding the so-called ‘conventional’ looks. Her famous films are Neecha Ngar, Dharti Ke Laal, Cheeni Kum, Saanwaraiya, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Dil Se, Veer Zara, Tamanna, Saaya.
Zohra received Padma Vibhushan in 2010 and passed away in July 2014.
