It may be a brain teaser but how many of you remember seeing Karamchand on TV? Or, later, Office Office and New Office Office? The actor who played the stellar role in these serials was also the same person who dubbed the voice of Ben Mingsley in Gandhi.

Pankaj Kapur even acted in Gandhi as Pyarelal, the Mahatma’s second secretary.

A product of NSD, Pankaj Kapur has performed with ease in Commercial Cinema as also Parallel Cinema and TV serials. He is one of the most recognisable faces in India, and has been so since 1982. His performance in Raakh won him the National Award for Best Supporting Actor, as also for Maqbool. He also won the Special Jury Award for Ek Doctor Ki Maut.

Pankaj kapur has acted in films and serials directed by Tapan Sinha,Vidu Vinod Chopra, Shyam Benegal, Saeed Akhtar Mirza and Mrinal Sen.

As a director he has directed over 70 plays and TV serials.

Ludhiana born Pankaj Kapur ( May 29, 1954) has also acted in many interesting roles in Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola, Roja and Blue Umbrella.

Father of actor Shahid Kapur, he is currently married to Supriya Pathak. He has also published a book, Dopeheri.
