Nasir Hussain 99 Views
Way back in 1957, a film under the banner of Filmstan made the career of two legends. Nasir Hussain and Shammi Kapoor. The film was Tumsa Nahi Dekha.
Nasir Hussain’s films actually represented whatever Bollywood stood for in the 70’s to 80’s. He defined the Masala genre.
Tracking the career graph of Nasir Hussain is like tracking the history of Bollywood. When Hussain surfaced he was with Qamar Jalalabadi at Filmstan and wrote the story for Anarkali. He wrote the dialogues for Biraj Bahu and also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogue for Aangaan. Filmstan was a break away group from Bombay Talkies and founded by Sashadhar Mukherjee, Rai Bahadur Chunilal, Ashok Kumar and Gyan Mukherjee. In 1957, Sahadhar Mukherjee gave Nasir Hussain his first break as a director and that film was a superhit. However, there was a break in Filmstan and Filamlaya was born and Nasir Hussain directed Dil Dekhe Dekho with Shammi Kapoor and then went on to found his own banner, Nasir Hussain Films and turned Producer-Director.
