Very rarely does a full time TV actor decline a role in a big banner production, Mukesh Khanna did just that. The actor who had played Bhisma Pitamaha in B R Chopra’s Mahabharata, he declined to do the role of Shantanu in Ekta Kapoor’s Kahani Hamarey Mahabharat Ki, saying that while the mega serial had actors playing the roles , Ekta Kapoor’s production had models!

A batch mate of Naseeruddin Shah and Shakti Kapoor at FTII, Mukesh is best known for his portrayal of Shaktiman in the early nineties. He continued to stay steady in a number of TV productions, as well as many successful films like Main Khiladi Tu Anadi, Hera Pheri, Saudagar.

Shaktiman became a part of India’s popular culture and he was roped in by the Government for a project titled Shaktiman to prevent malnutrition and reduce mother child mortality rate.

Mukesh Khanna currently runs acting schools in Jaipur, Agra and have jointly run three month acting courses with FTII. He is Founder Director of MK Films and has a youtube channel Bheeshm International.
