Irrfan Ali Khan was an Indian actor who worked in Bollywood, British and U.S movies. Hailing from Rajasthan and born in a family that used to run a tyre business, Irrfan used to play cricket earlier. Due to the money crunch, he couldn’t appear for the tournament. But after completing his M.A, he came to Delhi and studied at the National School of Drama.
After coming to Mumbai, Khan acted in a number of television serials – Banegi Apni Baat, Chandrakanta, Sparsh and Goonj. His first major break in Bollywood came in 2005 when he got the lead role in Rog. After that he went on to grab some great roles in movies like Haasil (for which he won a Filmfare), Maqbool, The Namesake, Life of a Pie, Inferno, Slumdog Millionaire, Piku, Madari, Paan Singh Tomar, Puzzle and the last being English Medium.
He was also appointed as the brand ambassador for “Resurgent Rajasthan’ in September 2015.In 2012, he also decided to drop Khan from his name as he believed his work will define him and not anything else.
He was married to Sutapa Sikdar and had two sons – Babil and Ayan Khan
Irrfan Khan passed away on 29th April , 2020.
