Born on April 20, Babita at 73 has had a real filmy life. She was born Babita Shivdasini, to actor Hari Shivdasini, and is cousin of Sadhna, the glamour actress famous for the Sadhna Cut of hair styling. Babita married Randhir Kapoor, the eldest son of Raj Kapoor and is the mother of Kareena and Karishma. A wholesome tally!

 However on the film career she had a short life, starring in only 17 films, and in 1971 she got married to and as per the traditions of the Kapoor family, she gave up acting. In those ten odd years Babita featured in a number of successful films, starting with the comedy Dus Lakh with Sanjay Khan and Om Prakash. She then featured in a number of hit films, Raaj, Farz, Kismat and Hasina Maan Jayegi, Tumse Accha Kaun Hai and Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati. all between 1967 and 1969. In two such films she had to team up with Shashi and Shammi Kapoor. Finally, in 1971, she acted in Aaj, Kal aur Aaj which even featured Prithviraj and Raj kapoor. Soon, she called it a day.

Despite her very short tenure in the Bollywood film industry, Babita continues to be remembered and admired for her performances.
