Atul Agnihotri 73 Views
The Business of cinema seems to be in Atul’s DNA. His father was an actor, his first cousin is Rati Agnihotri and he is married to Salman Khan’s sister.
He made his debut, technically, as a child artist in Pasand Apni Apni
( which starred Rati Agnihotri) in 1983 and ten years later, as the lead in Mahesh Bhatt’s, Sir. He continued to act in a number of films like Chachi 420, Krantiveer, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam and slowly eased himself out of acting and took to directing. His first film, starring Salman Khan did not run well, and his second film as a director, starring Sohail Khan was also a flop.
Atul exited the business of directing and turned to producing. It is in this discipline that he tasted real success with his first venture, Bodyguard, pushing great numbers at the box office. Sadly, his next film where he had given opportunities to a number of new comers bombed at the theatres.
In 2019, he made Bharat, starring Salman Khan. Released on Eid day in 2019, it grossed ₹ 43 crores on Day 1 and went on to become a huge commercial success worldwide, grossing ₹ 326 crores.
