Armaan Kohli 114 Views
Luck has played truant with Armaan, perhaps being unfair with him. At least during his initial
stages.
Born on March 23rd, 1972, son of director Rajkumar Kohli (with whom too luck had played
tricks), Armaan was cast by his father in Raaj Tilak and Badle ki Aag as a child star and later
his father launched him in the leading role in Virodhi, which crashed in the Box Office. He
went to play the lead role in Deewana but walked out of the film after completing the early
schedule. His lead actress was Divya Bharati (who later died under mysterious
circumstances in 1993) and the role went to Shah Rukh Khan and the film was a grand
success. Armaan also lost out Shah Rukh in Baazigar and while Khan went on to become
history in the positive sense, Armaan too became history.
Sadly, none of his other films made the mark, and he kept going in and out of assignments.
His last films which had some success were LOC: Kargil and Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan
Dhan Payo.
He was back in the news for the wrong reason when he participated in Big Boss 7 and was
arrested on the sets for physically abusing a fellow Guest. He also had a brush with the law
when he hit a pedestrian with his car in 2002.
He started with a lot of promise but made little headway. He is remembered more for his
anger than his talent.
