Born in to a family of performing artists and an expert cataloguer, Ashish Vidyarthi spent his early formative years in Delhi. His mother was a Kathak Guru and his father was tasked with archiving vanishing performing arts of India for Sangeet Natak Akademi. While attending Hindu College in New Delhi, he joined a theatre group and slowly moved in full time to National School of Drama and performing for a theatre group called Act One.
He moved to Mumbai in the early nineties and in his very first film that was released ( he had completed his role in Sardar which was released later) he won the National Film Award for the Best Supporting Actor for Drohkaal. That was in 1995.
Since then he has acted in films in 11 different languages and has established himself as an exponent for negative roles.One of the notable roles played by him is Sudhir Misra’s Iss Raat ki Subah Nahi, which fetched him a number of awards.
Ashish is also a motivational speaker and is the Curator of Avid Miner Conversations. The module allows the participants to view their life and commitment at work in a new light. He has conducted workshops for various leading corporates in India.
