Actor Mahipal, who died on May 15 in 2005 was one of the most talented and gifted people in the film industry. Born in Jodhpur in 1919, he graduated in literature and moved to Mumbai as he was fond of the theatre.However, after his first film Nazrana ( 1942) sank, he wrote lyrics for the films of films of V Shantaram.He slowly went back to acting and made his mark in a few films of Shantaram. However, his roles in mythological films earned him his popularity. The 1975 film, Jai Santoshi Maa, in which he played Narada, became one of the biggest money spinners and created a box office record for years. He also acted in a number of films based on Arabian Nights which made him popular in the gulf countries. He could also dance and it is said that many actresses were afraid to dance with him as they felt he would over shadow them!

He kept a low profile and kept on trying his hands in poetry.
