The eldest of eight children born to a family of Zamindars completes his education and takes up a job in Vadodora for a year, moves to Delhi and while watching a play, decides to take up learning acting. He joins NSD and within twenty years of joining the film industry not only wins numerous international awards for acting, but turns in to an international star. Yet, he goes back to his village whenever he can and does farming and plans to teach modern techniques of farming in his area.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, perhaps the most fancied character artist in today’s film world, has created deep impressions with his performances starting off with a small role in Amir Khan’s Sarfarosh in 1999.
The list is long: Munnabhai MBBS, Black Friday, Peepli Live, Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur, Lunch Box almost all major films in the past 20 years has featured Nawazuddin.
A true son of the soil, his portrayal of any character that he takes up, he leaves the unique impression, “Arrey, isko toh hum pahey chantey hain.” His portrayal of Manto in the film by the same name has been described by critics as oath breaking. He attained equal success with his performance in The Sacred Games which made celebrated writer Paul Cohelo recommend to his friends as one of the” finest serials in Netflix with the great actor Nawazuddin”.
