Star-crossed lovers Patricia Smith (Shirley Grey) and Max Silver (Leon Ames) are forced to go their different paths after Max earns his surgeon’s degree and is married off by his parents to another woman. Pat finds love in a gumball machine salesman, Eddie Doyle (Jack Oakie) and is married to him. However, tragedy strikes, and when Pat finds herself in hospital, her surgeon turns out to be none other than Max. Will Pat go back to her first love, or will she realise that she means the world to Eddie?
