Madhavi runs away from her wedding to be with her lover, only to find out that he was pretending to love her because of her money. On returning home, she gets to know about her uncle’s suicide. She runs away again and meets her childhood friend who is now a widow with a child. While their way to Nainital, the train derails and the friend dies but before dying she makes Madhavi promise that she’ll take her place in her in-law’s house and care for the child. But Madhu’s true identity is known to her ex-boyfriend.
