Battleship Potemkin

Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, Battleship Potemkin tells the story of a group of sailors aboard the battleship, Potemkin, who rise in revolt against the brutality of their intolerant superiors. And eventually, when the revolting soldiers dock the ship at the port of Odessa, the people join in to cheer the soldiers on as they rise against their brutal masters, who retaliate by committing unspeakable atrocities against their own citizens. Directed in 1925 by one of the founding fathers of cinema, Sergei Eisenstein, Battleship Potemkin is a must-watch for true lovers of the cinematic medium.
