Aradhana

A 1969 Shakti Samata film, one of the biggest grosser in Hindi movies till date, Aradhana has a number of memorable hit songs, with music scored by S D Burman.

An air force pilot (Rajesh Khanna) falls in love with a girl (Vandana)whom she marries secretly. The girl becomes pregnant but before she can deliver, the pilot-husband dies in an air crash and with their marriage not public, the mother has a real time problem when the child (Suraj) is born. She gives him away in adoption but is employed by the family as a nanny to the child. Plot gets complicated what with the employer trying to rape her, and Suraj kills the rapist. However Vandana takes the blame and is sentenced to prison term. With Suraj who is a Arun look alike also joining the Air Force, the knots starts to unwind and all ends well.

The film won three Filmfare awards in 1969 for Best Actress, Best Director and Best Male Playback.
