When a few Indian prisoners-of-war of the 1971 India-Pakistan War for the liberation of Bangladesh decide to take matters into their own hands and stage an escape towards the international border, they know there are risks to be taken. They could all be caught and killed during the attempt, or perhaps they could wait for a little while longer and hope to be repatriated as per the Geneva Convention. Will they use a soldier’s prerogative to escape, or will they wait for their destiny to take its own shape? A sleeper classic with an ensemble cast, 1971 is a must-watch for bot war and cinema buffs.
