Sunil Dutt began his career with radio and later became an actor, director, and politician. He started acting with the film ‘Railway Platform’ that was released in 1955. Sunil Dutt played prominent roles, majorly in the films that were released in the 50s and 60s. His collaboration with B.R Chopra proved significant for his career as Gumraah and Waqt were great box-office hits. His other films include Khandan, Milan, Amrapali, Mera Saaya, Badle Ki Aag, Mujhe Jeene Do, Reshma Aur Shera, Dard ka Rishta, Bhai Bhai, Umar Qaid, and several others. He has also created the record of acting and directing in Yaadein (released in 1964), where he was the only one in the cast of the movie. He won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award on 25th May 2005.
However, in the 1990s, Sunil Dutt majorly turned to politics. He took the charge as the Union Minister of Youth Affairs on 25th May 2004. He was also given an a political position in the police force by the Government of Maharashtra in 1982, as the sheriff of Bombay. In 1988, he took a great step towards world demilitarization by walking from Nagasaki to Hiroshima in Japan. He died of a heart attack on 25th May in Mumbai.
