Starting as a theatre actor, Sharman directed his own production in 2016. However, he had made his debut in films when he was 27 years old in God Mother and then went on to star in a number of successful films like Rang de Basanti, Life in a Metro 3 idiots, for which he won the Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Role.
