Literally the next door Marathi neighbour, a born actor who portrayed villains and negative roles for which he won awards but in real life was a big-time social activist who worked for numerous social agendas.
Sadashiv started with the Marathi stage acting and directing close to 50 plays, and in one of his performances, he was picked up by Govind Nihalani who was looking for a face to play the villain in Ardh Satya. That was in 1984 and in his very first appearance, he won the Filmfare Award for The Best Supporting Actor while his style of dialogue delivery created an impact amongst the audience.
After establishing his position firmly as the actor for villainous roles – in fact, he even won the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor in a Negative Role, the very first time it was set up for Sadak in 1991, he switched to comic roles. He acted Pro Bono on Swayam as he was touched by the story of the film.
Sadashiv went on to be associated with a number of organizations with the object of supporting the youth, marginalised women, HIV/AIDS, prostitutes with children. He was active in Narmada Bachao Andolon and supported Anna Hazare during the India Against Corruption campaign.
Born on May 11, 1950, he passed away in 2014 at the age of 64.
