Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi began working as an assistant director for the film Raaz in 2002.
But he was inclined to venture into acting since childhood. His mother Maherahh Hashmi was an
actress and his father, Anwar Hashmi, was a businessman. He managed to grab many
prominent roles in films such as Murder, Zeher, Ashiq Banaya Aapne, Kalyug and Gangster. As
he had too many kissing scenes in many of the movies, he was termed as a “Serial Kisser”.
Hashmi has the privilege of receiving three Filmfare nominations and has established himself as
one of the most talented actors of Bollywood. In 2008, there was a major event that proved to be
a turning point for him – he played a crook in Jannat and was widely acclaimed for his acting.
This led to a series of movies where Hashmi gave amazing performances – Jannat2, Raaz 3, Ek
Thi Daayan, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, and Humari Adhuri Kahani.
Emraan dated Parveen Shahani for 6 years before getting married to her on 14 th Dec 2006. In
2014, his son Ayan was diagnosed with cancer. In 2016, Emraan came out with a book “The Kiss
Of Life” where he wrote about how he has dealt with the most difficult phase of his life – about his
son’s cancer and its treatment.
